This year, we’ve revamped Beth Tzedec’s popular B’nai Mitzvah to offer more individualized instruction, more opportunities to connect with other Jewish students and families, and more comfort with Hebrew literacy and prayer-leading.
With separate tracks for sixth and seventh grade learners, we’re inviting students to prepare for their b’nai mitzvah with confidence and community.
Sixth Grade
Sundays, October 15 to May 26 | 10:00am to 12:00pm
Students will learn directly with Rabbi Russ while preparing for their B’nai Mitzvah via a unique and comprehensive curriculum. Beyond learning to successfully lead a B’nai Mitzvah service, they’ll develop a deeper understanding of the beauty and majesty of our tradition.
Seventh Grade
One-on-one sessions with clergy, plus monthly Shabbat Sessions
Students will benefit from more personal attention throughout the year, punctuated by group time with their peers, community building and exploring their mitzvah projects, and sharpening their Torah/service-leading skills.
There will also be opportunities to gather for a special B’nai Mitzvah Shabbat dinner with their families and fellow students to enjoy a delicious dinner, following a B’nai Mitzvah Kabbalat Shabbat designed specifically for them.
Pricing & Registration
As we transition to a new model for our B’nai Mitzvah program, please note that parents and children already in the B’nai Mitzvah stream will continue to pay their previous rate.
New families and students have the opportunity to choose between:
The Grade 6/7 Package
This includes up to two years of learning all the way up to and including the B’nai Mitzvah for $1500, which can be broken into smaller payments. The package fee does not include Beth Tzedec membership, which is required for all participants.
The Grade 7 Only Package
This includes one year of learning all the way up to and including the B’nai Mitzvah for $1000. The package fee does not include Beth Tzedec membership, which is required for all participants.
Every child should have a B’nai Mitzvah. Parents can discuss a reduction in these packages based on financial need.
