Hazak Lunch & Learn: Culturally Jewish
March 20, 2024 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Congregants and community members of all ages are welcome to join our monthly daytime learning sessions. We’re inviting some of Calgary’s great thinkers and writers to teach, inspire and connect with us as we socialize and share a delicious lunch.
On March 20, join actor, writer and podcaster David Sklar as he shares his experience and insights on navigating the current artistic landscape in Canada. Drawing from his own journey, he offers lessons on resilience, creativity and the challenges and opportunities for Jewish artists.
David is an actor/playwright who divides his time between Montreal and Calgary. He was artist-in-residence at the Jerusalem Theatre Company, Shakespeare-in-the-Rough, and assistant directed the Canadian Badland’s Passion Play in Drumheller. He has acted with Theatre Calgary, Alberta Theatre Projects, Lunchbox, Theatre BSMT, Annerin Productions and Theatre NorthWest in B.C. He has toured across North America with the Dora Award nominated and META Award winning, Jabber, by Marcus Youssef. His latest play, Vial, was shortlisted for the Sharon Pollock Prize and winner of Fire Exit Theatre’s Annual New Play Competition. His voice can be heard in the recently released video game, Assassins Creed: Mirage. He also hosts the podcast Culturally Jewish, exploring Jewish art, culture and identity in Canada.
Register by Monday, March 18.
