In February, we’ll be reading Melting Point by R uncovers the little-known story of the Galveston Plan, a bold early-20th-century effort that brought thousands of Russian Jews to the Texas Gulf Coast in search of safety and a new beginning. Through diaries, letters, and other firsthand accounts, Rachel Cockerell reconstructs this remarkable migration—led in part by her own great-grandfather—and follows the families whose lives intertwined with major figures of the era.
Inventive and deeply human, the book explores questions of belonging, identity, and what it truly means to seek a promised land.
