Join us each month at Masala Art for lively conversation, good company, and great food as we explore Jewish literature together. The Beth Tzedec Book Club is open to all who love reading and discussing stories, history, and ideas through a Jewish lens.
This January, we’ll be reading The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden. Set in rural Holland in 1961, the novel follows Isabel, whose orderly life is disrupted when her brother’s unpredictable girlfriend, Eva, comes to stay. As household items begin to vanish, Isabel’s irritation turns into obsession, blurring the lines between suspicion and desire.
A tense, atmospheric story about control, buried history, and the unsettling secrets that surface when two very different women are forced under one roof.
