This powerful drama is set in early-1950’s Israel, where Eva, a beautiful seamstress, arrives with her daughter in a working-class neighbourhood largely made up of former partisan fighters and young Holocaust survivors. Shalom Gottlieb, a former partisan leader and current factory foreman at the local soda bottling plant, falls for Eva, who offers him a chance at happiness and a life filled with beauty and laughter. But rumours of Eva’s past as a Kapo (Nazi collaborator) during the Holocaust set off a storm of emotions and questions among the close-knit community, and Shalom finds himself at the centre of a moral conflict. His choice to be with Eva now means not only betraying his family, but also his fellow partisans and his duty to uncover her secret. Starring Lior Raz (Fauda) as Shalom, the film was inspired by the life of director Erez Tadmor’s grandfather.
