Staffing Update
As Beth Tzedec Congregation continues to grow, our leadership team is continuously reviewing our strategic priorities, budgeting, and finances to ensure our community’s long-term strength and vitality.
We are deeply grateful for the support that allowed us to replace our roof—thanks to the generosity of the Sam Ousher Switzer Charitable Foundation, Lenny and Faigel Shapiro, and many other congregants who contributed to the building reserve fund. This campaign’s success is a wonderful step forward, and we look forward to celebrating everyone who supported it. Looking ahead, our capital needs include an updated HVAC system, a new dishwasher, and a replacement elevator to improve our facilities even further.
Alongside these capital improvements, we are working to balance our annual revenue with expenses. We are delighted to share that our membership has grown by 15% this year, bringing additional resources to support our programs. Your dedication and generosity are the heart of this progress, and we thank you!
However, in order to responsibly manage both our growth and our budget, we have made the difficult decision to consolidate certain roles. This includes eliminating the Director of Engagement position and restructuring the Director of Education position.
The affected staff members are Stacy Shaikin (Director of Engagement) and Ari Cohen (Director of Education). On behalf of Beth Tzedec and the Congregation, we thank both of them for their contributions to Beth Tzedec programs and services and wish them much success in their future pursuits.
Our remaining team is stepping up to ensure that our programs remain strong. In education, Rabbi Russell G. Jayne, Rabbi Ilana Krygier-Lapides, Elliott Steinberg, Hanit Tsur-Jacobs, Morah Orly Shalev, and Holly Shumate will collectively guide and enrich our offerings. On the engagement front, our clergy and operations staff will be sharing responsibilities, ensuring continuity and maintaining the warm, welcoming spirit of Beth Tzedec.
We’re proud of our dedicated and hardworking staff and remain committed to providing you, our congregants, with an enriching experience at Beth Tzedec as we seek to ensure a sustainable and vibrant future.
