Hazak Lunch & Learn: Gardening as Part of a Healthier Lifestyle
February 19, 2025 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Nowadays, we all seek ways to live healthy, happy, and full lives. People who live in big cities experience a lot of stress, much of which is related to their separation from the natural world around them. This month, Oxana Lyashenko—landscape designer, textile artist, and photographer—will talk about gardening as a way to be more active in your everyday life, to communicate with nature, and to enjoy being outside with plants you care for.
Oxana Lyashenko is a landscape designer, textile artist, and photographer who is in the Master of Landscape Architecture program at SAPL (U of C). She has been living in Calgary for more than 13 years and loves to explore the city and surrounding area, since understanding the environment around us is the first step of good design. Oxana’s medical background has brought her a better understanding of the importance of designing a healthier urban environment which encourages people to be more active in their everyday lives. This includes gardening, which gives people living in big cities more opportunities for necessary physical exercise, and for growing their own healthy food.
