What’s Rabbi Reading? The Beth Tzedec Book Club

Join us each month at Masala Art for lively conversation, good company, and great food as we explore Jewish literature together. The Beth Tzedec Book Club is open to all who love reading and discussing stories, history, and ideas through a Jewish lens.

This April, we’ll be reading The Gates of Gaza: A Story of Betrayal, Survival, and Hope in Israel’s Borderlands by Amir Tibon.

This National Jewish Book Award Winner recounts one family’s terrifying experience during the October 7, 2023 attacks, when Tibon, his wife, and their young daughters were trapped in their home near Gaza while his parents raced across the country to rescue them. Blending this deeply personal story with historical and political context, the book explores the long-standing tensions, systemic failures, and human realities on both sides of the border—offering a powerful portrait of survival, community, and the fragile hope for peace.
