Nominated for 12 Israeli Academy Awards, and inspired by true events, this latest film from acclaimed Israeli writer-director Avi Nesher (Turn Left at the End of the World, The Secrets, The Matchmaker, The Other Story, The Monkey House) is a moving and ultimately uplifting drama set around October 7th – a film about love, family, resilience and the extraordinary humanity people discover in moments of adversity and crisis. Nesher weaves together the stories of an ensemble of individual characters – ordinary men and women – each trapped in a failing relationship, and convinced they are living the worst day of their lives. They cannot imagine that within hours, their own personal despair will be overshadowed by a national catastrophe of inconceivable scale.
Over the course of a single harrowing day, faced with fear, loss, and impossible choices, each of them will be forced to confront unresolved wounds, buried guilt, and the painful distance between who they are and who they hoped to become. In the face of great danger and collective trauma, they will each discover the possibility of personal repair, redemption, and perhaps, even the chance to begin again.
