SUMMARY:What’s Rabbi Reading? The Beth Tzedec Book Club
DESCRIPTION:Join us each month at Masala Art for lively conversation\, good company\, and great food as we explore Jewish literature together. The Beth Tzedec Book Club is open to all who love reading and discussing stories\, history\, and ideas through a Jewish lens. \nIn March\, we’ll be reading The Madwoman in the Rabbi’s Attic: Rereading the Women of the Talmud by Gila Fine. \nWhile women in the Talmud are often marginal and unnamed\, Fine focuses on six named heroines—Yalta\, Homa\, Marta\, Heruta\, Beruria\, and Ima Shalom—who seem to embody familiar antifeminist archetypes. Through close\, literary rereading\, she reveals far more complex characters and uncovers surprisingly nuanced rabbinic perspectives on marriage\, intimacy\, and women’s lives. DESCRIPTION:Bring your whole family together for an unforgettable Friday night filled with music\, laughter\, and community spirit! \nAt 5:30pm\, jump into an interactive Shabbat service with singing\, games\, and stories that will have kids (and grown-ups!) smiling from ear to ear. Then at 6:00pm\, we’ll gather around the table for a mouthwatering\, shul-cooked dinner—because Shabbat tastes better when we share it together. \nMore than a meal\, it’s a night of connection\, joy\, and Shabbat magic. \nRegistration for our March dinner has now closed.
