SUMMARY:Adult Hebrew Literacy and Conversation Class
DESCRIPTION:Learn the language of our heritage and homeland from experienced Hebrew instructor Orly Shalev. On Sunday mornings from September through May\, beginners and more experienced students are invited to join us and embark on a rewarding journey into the world of Hebrew!  \nBeginners will join us from 9:00am to 10:00am to learn the Hebrew letters\, vowels\, reading\, writing and basic vocabulary and grammar.   \nIntermediate students will build on these skills from 10:00am to 11:00am as they develop their listening comprehension\, reading comprehension and basic conversation.  \nRegistration for this year-long class has now closed.

Join us for engaging discussions over delicious food at Masala Art as we explore thought-provoking books together. \nOn Wednesday\, May 28\, we will meet to discuss The Hebrew Teacher by Maya Arad\, a National Jewish Book Award Winner in 2024. \nThree Israeli women\, their lives altered by immigration to the United States\, seek to overcome crises. Ilana is a veteran Hebrew instructor at a Midwestern college who has built her life around her career. When a young Hebrew literature professor joins the faculty\, she finds his post-Zionist politics pose a threat to her life’s work. Miriam\, whose son left Israel to make his fortune in Silicon Valley\, pays an unwanted visit to meet her new grandson and discovers cracks in the family’s perfect façade.
