Winner of 10 Israeli Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Actress, this bittersweet dramedy was Israel’s submission to the 2024 Oscars for Best International Film. In early 1990’s Jerusalem, a large, boisterous Moroccan-Jewish-Israeli family reunites for a cross-cultural wedding, celebrating the Moroccan-Jewish bride and French-Ashkenazi groom with the traditional week-long ritual of Sheva Brachot (Seven Blessings) –seven nights of festive meals honouring the newlyweds. But as the week unfolds, the facade of joie de vivre and togetherness begins to crack. Family secrets, lies, long-held resentments and painful old wounds stemming from an old Moroccan-Jewish custom soon rise to the surface, forcing them to confront the past. No one can walk away unscathed, but is it possible to find the love and strength required to forgive?
