Hazak Lunch & Learn
December 13, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Congregants and community members of all ages are welcome to join our monthly daytime learning sessions. We’re inviting some of Calgary’s great thinkers and writers to teach, inspire and connect with us as we socialize and share a delicious lunch. This December, we’ll be learning from Rev. Ryan Anderson of The Calgary Alliance for the Common Good.
The Calgary Alliance for the Common Good was originally created by Beth Tzedec and other communities coming together to work together to create a more just and compassionate city. What does the Jewish understanding of Tikkun Olam teach us about the work that the Calgary Alliance for the Common Good was created to do? How can the Calgary Alliance for the Common Good continue to be a vehicle for living out the practice of Tikkun Olam? How do we have a rich conversation between these traditions that value justice in our common life?
Rev. Ryan Andersen is the Lead Organizer for the Calgary Alliance for the Common Good. He is also a Lutheran Pastor who has been involved in interfaith dialogue and interfaith action for 25 years. Ryan studied theology, community organizing, and ethics at Harvard Divinity School. He was a leader in the development of Canada’s Interfaith Conversation, led the initial organizing of Calgary’s Interfaith Council, is a member of the Snowmass Inter-Spiritual Dialogue and a founding member of the Calgary Alliance. He is married and has two wonderful children.
