Halisa (Sneak Preview)

November 3, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

  • Judaism 201 »
Israel 2024 | Director: Sophie Artus | Hebrew with English subtitles | 102 minutes

 Drama

Every day, in her work as a nurse, 41-year-old Sarah cares for other people’s babies at the Children’s Health Center in Haifa’s impoverished, multi-ethnic Halisa neighborhood, but she also yearns for a child of her own. After two years of failed attempts, her desperate desire for motherhood collides with the struggles of Anya, a distressed young mother who comes to the clinic with her baby Eden, culminating in a risky decision with potentially devastating consequences. Featuring a touching lead performance by acclaimed Israel actress Noa Koler (The Wedding Plan), Halisa is a sensitively directed and poignant film about motherhood, compassion, and the mutual support that we all sometimes need, told through the story of two women brought together by fate, perhaps at exactly the right time in each of their lives.

Nominated: 5 Israeli Academy Awards 2024, including Best Film, Best Actress & Best Supporting Actress
