with Dr. Tinu Ruparell, Lil Faider Interfaith Scholar-in-Residence
The doctrine of anekantavada, or “no one view” gets it’s fullest development in Jain teaching, but can be said to permeated South Asian thought more broadly. It is understood not only as a humble limit on the scope of human understanding, but also as a theological, moral and pedagogical principle. As Hindus understand the vanaprastha or retired stage of life to be one of teaching the young and passing on one’s accumulated wisdom, this talk will reflect on the principle of anekantavada as part of our moral and teaching duties. Please join us for lunch at 12 noon, $5 per person, followed by Dr. Ruparell’s presentation.
